What is the name of your state?My state is NJ. I wanted to find out about licensing music for digital retail online. Does anyone know how long such licenses last and how much record companies usually charge for such licenses? Where could I find this information? Would a professional attorney be able to help me acquire these licenses?

Mukul An attorney would probably be helpful, but also likely quite expensive. There are no "usual charges" here -- everything will depend on who's music you are interested in, and what arrangements you can negotiate with the record labels. Further, there is no requirement that the record companies even negotiate with you in the first place.
Your best bet is probably to try and talk with some of the record companies on your own, and try and get a feel for the market, and even if they would be willing to talk with you.
