Discussion:
What is the name of your state? California
I'm considering buying a website that offers free music video codes. In other words, you go to their page, see a music video you like of a popular artist, then you can click and get the HTML to paste into your own webpage to show the music video. The wrinkle here is that the website does not host a single music video. They are hosted on sites such as Yahoo Music, Launch etc. So the videos playing on this site I'm interested in are not actually hosted on his site. Likewise, the video codes he offers other webmasters also refer to the sites like Yahoo Music etc. So when the webmaster of acmewebsite.com put the code on their page, they are not hosting the video either - they are pointing their code to go get the video from Yahoo Music and display it on their page, even though they are not hosting the actual video.
So the site I'm interested in - is it illegal to:
1. Play music videos of popular artists on this site, even though they are hosted on another site.
2. Give out codes to allow other webmasters to do the same thing.

The current website owner claims he has never received a threatening letter or cease and desist. He also points out that there are thousands of similar sites and he appears to be right.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see that does this as well as a dozen other site. They are not hosting the videos the videos, but they play them via the original host and they give other sites the code to do the same thing.
