My husband and I have a music website whose logo includes the look-alike graphic of the Blues Brothers. The website is currently non-profit, but we would like to sell t-shirts with the logo on. Someone has told us that we should check into the copyrights, of using the BluesBrothers look-alike image. The graphic is not the BluesBrothers just an imitation. Does this considered copyrighted?

Maria Copyright can cover imitations. However, you are more likely to run afoul of trademark law than of copyright law. Search the database at to try and see if you image is similar to any existing trademarks -- if it is, be prepared for potential legal entanglements.
