I am the Creative Director and 50% shareholder of my own graphic design company. My working relationship with my business partner (who is also a 50% shareholding director) has broken down and am looking to leave the company.
Do I have any rights over the work I have created during my time in the business if/when I leave? Could I use the work I have created in a online portfolio, if I went freelance or started a new company, for instance?
I understand that ownership would likely stay with the company, but as the other director has had little or no hand in the creation of the majority of the designs I was wondering if there was any way to retain at least equal rights?

And did you read the contract you signed as well as you read the US LAW only issues?
If this was not addressed in your contracts then you did not have a very good contract.
