is this VHS legal?

Discussion:
I just bought a video tape that I think has been copied.
I think the original tape which it was copied of was copyrighted to the World Wrestling Federation in 1998, however the organisation is no longer called that anymore, also the tape is no longer in stock and they've stopped producing it.
I'dlike to know if it is illegal for me to have that tape?
it may be a dumb question but I'd still like to know.
Thank You.

Thank You. Well, technically, yeah, it's an illegal tape, so you are not supposed to have it.
Just because a tape (or book or movie or whatever) is out of stock or no longer produced doesn't give anyone the right to reproduce and distribute copies of the work without permission. Who knows, maybe the copyright holder is embarrassed, and doesn't want any more copies made -- it doesn't matter, because the copyright holder has the authority to control reproduction and distribution of his or her work, and can choose to do what he or she wants with the work.
You just purchased a tape -- the chances that anyone would possibly care are pretty much negligible, so don't worry about it, just enjoy the tape. Don't resell it, though.
The person making copies and selling those copies, however, might just pop up on someone's radar, though...
