FOR THE RECORD: If you ARE in the U.S. (or anyone else in the U.S. reading this): No, it's not legal. Ownership of a CD gives you the right to "rip" the songs into MP3 yourself so that you can play the songs on your computer or iPod or whatever; ownership of an audio DVD would as well, ownership of a movie DVD might. But there is no legal way to download an MP3 of a copyrighted song, from a P2P network or anywhere else on the net, without permission from the copyright holder. The courts made this very clear in AMG Music v. Napster, plus a couple of other cases (the MyMP3.com case, for example). Copyright © 2006 - 2008 www.todayquiz.com
