Synchronization/Copyright Law

Discussion:
What is the name of your state?Minnesota
My wife is planning to start a small business creating DVD's for customers who provide her with pictures and home movies. She requires that the customer provide the music for the DVD but we have been reading that there could be some infringment issues with this.
My question is: If someone already owns the music on CD or Tape, is it legal to take a song from that CD, synch to the pictures on the DVD and hand it back to the customer?
Part two of this question is: If the customer knows what song they want but do not own it, is it wrong to download it from a source like iTunes, synch it to the DVD and then hand it back to the customer. The customer now has purchased and owns the song and we would keep no other copy of the song in our possesion. Even if the song were very popular and we were required to use it multiple times, each time it would be paid for and downloaded seperately.
Thanks. Karl
Answer:
The answer is that if you want to use copyrighted music, you must get permission from the copyright owner.
Period.

Even if.
Answer:
Even if you have purchased the music? This is a purchase once, use once deal. I know nothing about law but it seems sensible that all parties are being paid because we are purchasing the music.
