Discount codes copyrighted?
Discussion: What is the name of your state? Louisiana I have a website that allows viewers to share/post discount codes for online retailers. This is open to anyone (kind of like a code forum) and I do not verify the validity of each code before it is posted, though I do go through it regularly to delete dead codes and such. I have a very prominent disclaimer stating that neither I nor the retailers have authorized the code, which may be invalid for a number of reasons. However, I know simply including a disclaimer is not always enough. I had an irate retailer demand that I remove a code of theirs before they took legal action. They acted as if I were violating a copyright law. The code was published in a current edition of Lucky Magazine, which did not mention anything about copyrights. I quickly removed the code (and have removed anything about their store if someone ever posts) and I have not had a problem with them since. However, I was wondering if there is any validity to the threat. I know there are plenty of other code sites out there, but perhaps they are all affiliated with the retailers. Double post...that is extremely rude. Answer: If you are referring to this post: They are actually two different questions. This is a problem I had several months ago from another retailer. I just decided to post both questions at the same time. Copyright © 2006 - 2009 www.todayquiz.com
