Question..About music and copyrights

Discussion:
My good friend wants me to find out if he bought a server like somewhere in a place like sweeden or somewhere else without same copyright laws as the U.S, could he host albums that people made (I.e rolling stones) and not get "in trouble". He lives in the U.S
Summary:
Could a guy who lives in the U.S. get fined for running a website in sweeden(or somewhere else) that hosts copyrighted material such as CD's made in the US?

Summary:
Could a guy who lives in the U.S. get fined for running a website in sweeden(or somewhere else) that hosts copyrighted material such as CD's made in the US? Yes. As long as he's within the reach of U.S. courts, he is a potential target. Now, if he lived in Sweden and used U.S. servers, then the U.S. courts couldn't touch him until he travelled to the U.S. on his own.
However, most every country these days is part of the Berne convention, which means they respect other people's copyrights. There have been numerous cases of U.S. copyright holders suing infringers in other countries to enforce their U.S. copyright under the other country's laws.
