Selling Knock-Offs (Is it legal?)
Discussion: What is the name of your state? VA Question for the Copyright/TM guru. I was walking through the mall today with my wife and was helping her pick out a purse for my company XMas party (yes I know it sounds like tons of fun!) In any case I have noticed in a lot of the stores within the mall the Coach, Dooney & Burke, Gucci and etc... look-a-likes. Is this legal? I was under the impression that even if the design of something wasn't exactly the same, if it resembled a TM/Copyright close enough then it was infringement... I'm really just curious as I see these stores all over so it must be legal, but a clearer understanding of why would be great. Answer: What is the name of your state?
