Walmart won't print my card. Use of logo in parody for xmas card
Discussion: What is the name of your state?Ohio I designed a humorous Christmas card using a photo of the game board from the game of LIFE. I also redrew the LIFE logo as best I could so it looks like the real thing. However I changed the name to read "The (my family's name) Game of Life 2005 Holiday Edition. I changed all the words on the game board to things that related to our personal family (got in first wreck Pay $2000) ( Adopt New Kitten... Repair Torn Furniture) .... you get the idea. Basically this is a Parody of the game using our families past year's events for titles of each game space. We'll Walmart's photo lab printed a 100 of them for me then the next manager who was working has refused to print them because of the LIFE logo. I understand their position however, I was thinking it would be ok to use it when used in a parody or otherwise humorous way. Plus this is just a Christmas card to the family and friends. What's the law regarding use of logos in parodies or humour ?? Answer: What is the name of your state?Ohio I designed a humorous Christmas card using a photo of the game board from the game of LIFE. What's the law regarding use of logos in parodies or humour ?? It's generally legal to use a trademark in a parody that parodies the logo itself. However, even if your particular parody is perfectly within the law, Walmaart has no obligation to print it for you. Copyright © 2006 - 2009 www.todayquiz.com
