Can a company take legal action against you for obtaining internal information?

Discussion:
What is the name of your state? CA
There was a price mistake for an item at big name retailer but corporate told the stores to honor it. The manager at my local store would not honor the price so I had a friend at another store get a copy of the internal memo stating the wrong price would be honored. I showed the manager and he reluctantly honored it. He kept asking where I got the internal memo from but I wouldn't tell him.
Now I'm wondering if the retailer can come after me to try to get me to give up my friend's name?

Well, it's unlikely that the manager has authority to "come after you" -- only the company itself likely has that authority. Technically this is potentially a theft of "trade secrets," although from what you've written it doesn't really sound likely that the company would bother to take action. If the company WERE to find out, however, your friend could get fired. You are probably not really at any significant risk.
Just FYI, for you and others reading, stealing internal documents and the like CAN be theft or trade secrets, and their are both civil and criminal penalties for stealing trade secrets.
