I was wondering what a race created by a person is classified as under the copyright law, such as is it an idea or concept. I just really want to know if the race name and the race description are both copyrightable. It isnt a common race, but i've only seen it in one series. Also can a name of a cartoon character be protected in any way?

You can TRADEMARK the name of the race and the cartoon character.
