Website woes
Discussion: Hello. We donated a website to a nonprofit agency and we now want to disaccociate ourselves from the agency and we want to take our donated web site design with us. What can we legally do on this? I maintain the site and have the password and have the ability to "take" my design down, but I didnt want to do that without knowing I am covered legally. The non profit organization is in legal problems and is getting bad press and I just dont want my design up there nor my companies name. Please help! What are my options Answer: If you "donated" the design to them, or rights to use the design (without limit) isn't it theirs and I alaways thought there were "no backs". Of course the issue is what did you donate? You probably donated NON-EXCLUSIVE rights to the design, so you too can use the design. One thing to consider is simply removing the name of your firm from the site. If you just "did it" and totally removed references to you -- let's assume they have not changed the password -- and then send them a letter stating that you are no longer supporting the site and demanding they not use any references to you, you may never hear from them again. Doing anythingto damage the site or organization might get you into trouble.... Copyright © 2006 - 2009 www.todayquiz.com
