What is the name of your state?I live in the US and am trying to register a trademark in Canada on the cheap for my own business. I'm a lawyer, but not a trademark lawyer...I know just enough to be dangerous, but I'm willing to risk it since I won't sue myself for malpractice It's a unique/unnatural term and I don't expect any complications...my application with the USPTO has cleared publication without any hiccups.
I filed a application with the Canadian IP Office, and was recently informed that I needed to obtain an agent in Canada for notice purposes. Can anyone tell me more about this requirement... Do these agents actually do anything, or are they simply a conduit to pass correspondence through? How much do they cost, and can anyone recommend one.

Have you contacted the Canadian IP office with these questions? Maybe they have an FAQ on their website or something. Since this is a question of Canadian law, not U.S. law, I doubt anyone here would know the answer to this question -- although you never know...
