Music copyright laws
Discussion: What is the name of your state? SC I want start a business creating "keepsake" dvd's and use full recorded songs (or parts of them) as background music to photography and video. Assuming that I purchase the music, what is the copyright laws in regards to using them on the dvd's since I intend to do this as a business. Answer: Even if you buy the music, recorded or sheet music, you will still have to pay a royalty for each and every DVD, CD you produce and sell or giveaway. And if the music is recorded by someone other than the writer of the specific piece, you will also be paying royalties to the performers. Contact BMI and ASCAP to learn all about copyright infringement and sliding royalty scales. Answer: Thanks, Those sites are helpful. Copyright © 2006 - 2009 www.todayquiz.com
