Trademark Infringment? Leisure Suit Larry Vs Larry Cool

Discussion:
International
Hi,
Have you heard of the PC game Leisure Suit Larry?
It was a great adult PC game and is well known for being one.
I have written an adult game that I would like to name "Larry Cool". This is because it would make a decent brand, I have an associate in the adult insdustry named Larry, and "Larry" is the perfect name for a sleezy porn character. I was also influenced by the famed "Larry Flint". The game's only similarity with the Leisure Suit Larry game is that they are adult related. Apart from that, they are very different.
Sierra own rights to the the LSL game. Will they sue me and if so, will I be okay?
Thanks for your help.
Answer:
who knows? There is no way we can tell you a What If scenario.
And by the way, I played that game back in the mid 90s. It's not so coooool anylonger.
Answer:
Perhaps I should rephrase the question...
Not "Will they" sue me, but Will they have a concern, a right to sue me.
Basically I want to know if using "Larry Cool" would be a potential trademark infringment?
Answer:
Maybe I should restate my answer.
No one can tell you IF they will sue you. We don't work for them.
We don't know if they will have a concern.
and Yes, they CAN sue you. Hell, for that matter, I can sue you. Whether or not they will have a case depends on not only the name of the game, but the code, the overall appearance and style of the game and how closely it resembles the 'LSL'.
By the way, Duke Nukem in it's first installment, was a much better game

OPINIONS WANTED
All I want here is an opinion.
I have stated that my game does not resemble the original LSL in any way except for the fact that the game has a theme of sex and that the game and character share the name "Larry".
The code is different, it looks different, plays different, genre of game is different. The whole thing is totaly different exept for the above 2 similarities.
Should I choose a different name for my game to avoid confusion or should I stay with Larry, knowing that it is THE name when it comes to sleezy game characters.
Thank You!
Answer:
And as I've been trying to get you to realize. NO OPINION here matters. what does matter is the opinion of the originators of the original game LSL, and the court.
We don't have a copy of the game, the code or the schema so there is no basis here for a valid opinion.
