Movie Copyright
Discussion: Hi, I am a writer and am compiling a book that will outline various successful Hollywood movies and offer an in-depth critique on these movies, scene to scene. I will not be using dialogue from these movies or stills, maybe just a few quotations here and there, but I wanted to know whether such a book would infringe upon the movie owner's copyright? If so, could you please explain why and how and if not, would it still be wise for me to add some sort of disclaimer to the book? Denise Answer: My response: Go to your nearest bookstore, like Barnes & Noble. There are tons of these types of books - - most notebly from "Ebert & Roeper" and many others. So, you want to dilute the genre even more? IAAL Answer: Yes, I do want to dilute the genre even more with my own perspective on these films. So, regarding my question, would I be infringing copyright? Answer: You have already been given your answer. Now go back and reread IAAL's response and use some deductive reasoning. If you're not able to understand his response, you shouldn't be writing books... Copyright © 2006 - 2009 www.todayquiz.com
