RIAA message
Discussion: Georgia Below is a letter I recieved from a RIAA rep regarding a xdcc bot serving mp3 files connected to my IRC server. To my understanding irc is an un moderated medium, and with the extemely high amount of users connected to our network it would be virtually impossible for me to ban every xdcc bot serving mp3's and monitor future bots to make sure they are not serving mp3s. While I have removed the bot that the RIAA is currently complaining about I expect the RIAA to complain about another bot in the future and figure that I am just blowing them off.. Now my question is what could I tell them to keep them off my back and what are my options at this point? Thanks for all your help. >Re: IRC Server ("Bot") operating at [ip kept private] > Network: [kept private] > Channel: #mp3-albums > Bot Name: [mp3]-XDCC-056 > >Dear Sir or Madam: > >I am contacting you on behalf of the Recording Industry Association of >America, Inc.
