What is the name of your state?I am in OHIO and want to start a digital slideshow home-based business. I want to put together a sample show burned to DVD to send to friends and family to get my business started. What do I need to do to legally add a popular song to my slideshow that I will send out? I will probably send out around 25 DVDs. Any idea of the cost of this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Contact ASCAP/BMI for a license on the sound recording, Harry Fox Agency for a license on the underlying musical work (every song has 2 copyrights associated with it -- one for the song itself, and one for the "performance" of the song -- you'll need a license for each). How much the license will cost will depend on what song(s) you are using.
