College Notes Services
Discussion: What is the name of your state? Georgia I attend UGA and am currently working for a Student Notes service in a bookstore on campus. My question is this: If my notes were taken under my own will (not handed out, pre-printed, etc.), and if I alone choose what to write down, does my professor own some "copyright" to my notes? I would've thought that if UGA objected to it so strongly, it would've been removed years ago. Answer: There is no copyright here. Neither to you nor your professor. Now, what is the REAL situation? Answer: Well, I guess I can elaborate a bit more. This professor, on his syllabus, explicitly states that "there shall be no selling of notes to any note companies, etc." and that if he finds out, there will be legal/administrative action taken. But, for one, if it was so horrible, why has the University not said anything? Truthfully, I just think that the professors and admin. don't LIKE it, but that there's nothing illegal about it. Besides, the service states that "this is not for skipping class, but, rather, for supplementing your own notes." Sounds innocent enough to me... Answer: Well, I guess I can elaborate a bit more. They can and should kick you out of school for selling your notes. However, it's not a crime. Copyright © 2006 - 2009 www.todayquiz.com
