Changing from H4 to H1 after husband's 6th year h1 expiration
  I am on H4 visa My husband is on H1 and his 6 year period is expiring in may 2006. We filed for our labor in Oct 2002 labor not yet approved. So My husband can renew his h1 ,but the problem is since all the while I was on H4 and I cannot have H1 after the 6 year period since i dont have any indpendent labor ceritification pending(on my name). Is this true. Are there any other visa options for me to work here.

Unfortunately, you are right.
Only work visa which you can apply beyond H 6 year is E visa if you are qualified for your county of citizenship and your position. Otherwise, the next time you get work permit is EAD which you can apply for with I485.

The alternate solution, go back home for 1 year or travel out of US. Then come back under H4. Then look for a job to get H1.
