H4 to H1 after entry
  One of my friend has entered with a H4 and came to know
that her H1 (new) has already been approved - which was applied
before she came to USA.
Can she begin to work? What to do for change of status from the
current H4 to already-approved-H1?

Go back to home country and get H1 stamp and enter
  Your friend cannot use DOS. If your friend has the H4 stamp, he/she can go to canada and try for H1 stamping. Canada/Mexico might deny the stamping. See nvars.com for appointments.
