LC is more than 12 months old and I-140 Approved
  My LC is more than 12 months old and I-140 Approved. Can I file for the 7th year extension. I have not received the approval notice for I-140 hence I cannot file for I-485. My H1 is about to expire. I thought 7th year extension is only possible for a pending I-140 but not for an approved one, the logic being that a I-140 pending (with LC>365 days) is not the mistake of the applicant and hence he gets the benefit.

  you said it is approved, but don\'t have the aporval notice? (heard on telephonic message?) technically it is still pending! check with the lawyers. to be safe, file the extension. since you know your 140 is apporved, and by the time you will hear that your H-1 is extended or not, you\'ll have the 140 notice, then file 485 with EAD. worst case, if H-1 is not extended, use EAD else you are fine with H-1. Anyways, you are in a good shape.
