Discussion: stuck in vancouver- H1 visa hi all i am stuck in vancouver for the last 4 days. I came here for my first time H1 stamping and they said they had to do further administrative processing. Has anyone been in a similar situation recently Please help Answer: Hi Just curios have u converted from F1 to H1. When did you attend visa interview in Vancouver. I am going for H1 visa stamping at Vancouver Consulate in MAy, this is my first time after converting from F1 to H1. Can u plzz send a personal message to me. thanks ray Answer: Hi Yup i did transfer from F1 to H1. However my F1 has expired. I came for my interview on the 16th of april. I am still stuck waiting for administrative processing. I guess its because i have a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. So i am on the TAL. If you do not work in a sensitive area you should be okay. Answer: Similar situation Hi, I also applied for my H1B stamping (revalidation - 3rd time) at the US consulate in Vancouver and my case has been sent for security check. I am also stranded in Vancouver. Not sure how long this is gonna take. But pls. let me know if there is any update on your case of if there is a means to get an update on the case status. Thanks Answer: 221(g), administrative processing and security check - same thing? My husband was given "221(g) form - not enough information, you have to wait" 7 months ago in Tijuana while applying for H1-B. When I call "visa specialists" say either that the visa is under administrative processing or that the background or security check is being performed. I wonder if these all are the same thing. Have you been given 221(g) form? Thanks. Have you been given 221(g) form? Thanks. No..I was not given any 221(g) form. Just a photocopied sheet saying "Further processing required" with a case number and additional details stating that I should contact the consulate if 60 days have elapsed since last communication from the consulate. Answer: SecCheck Hi to Bio and mubeen I had an interview on apr 16 2007 in vancouver canada and consulate was so reluctant he didn't mention if my name matches just said it wud take atleast 2 -3 months. Infact he said it may take more. Since then i am waiting and no news. Answer: Did the VO give you a white sheet with a case # or were you given a 221(g) form? Answer: Reply Hi Mubeen I was given a white paper with case # . Written to contact them back if i do after 60 days. It been more than a month and waiting. Answer: Vancan, I was given a similar white sheet with a case number. This is a name check/security check case. Unfortunately it does take around 2-3 months to clear, so hang in there. Answer: reply Hi Mubeen Well i do not mind if it takes 2 - 3 months. As long as it is done in 2-3 months. The only worries what if it takes really longer. Also I tried to contact the Embassy through my lawayer . They provided a different information such as it takes 3 - 6 weeks for security clearance. But in any case I hope it does not take more than 3 months. Keep posted if you get any update. thanks Answer: Hi, Did you get your stamp? If yes, How long did you wait. I am in the same situation. I am a chemist Thanks, Originally Posted by biologist (Post 1653751) hi all i am stuck in vancouver for the last 4 days. Has anyone been in a similar situation recently Please help Answer: AAP- Stranded in Vancouver I attended interview on Jun 15, vancouver. I have been given a white sheet with case number,Heading- Further Processing requried. No 221g or any specific reasons. After 4 calendar days, yesterday I was contacted through email asking to fax passport details(name, place of birth, issuance date etc.,). Could you please tell me, Is my case just started processing or nearing completion? Anybody got any email like that? It was my third appearance for my H1B renewal(other two times were F1 and H1B). My current visa was valid until mid sep07, now they have cancelled(prejudice) it saying that I can't go back to US until I get new one. I have read in other forums that if we have valid visa(though cancelled) we can still try at border and they will give new I-94 based on valid I-797 and let us in? I appreciate your valuable reply Answer: I had an interview at Vancouver on 06 july 07, consulate ask few job related questions plus 1) whether I'm single? , 2)whether my company applied for here? and he told that my case need further processing before he could make final decission? now a days its taking 2-3 months, but we suggest you contact us after 60 days. my company suggested that i should approach US Consulate in home country (Chennai, India), is this a good? wondering whether US Consulate in Chennai will issues visa or give same answer? Need advice URGENTLY, Please throw your suggestion or similar experience? Answer: Did you got visa stamp? Originally Posted by ind1234 (Post 1705732) I attended interview on Jun 15, vancouver. After the interview I was given a white sheet with title "Further Processing Required". Then the VO asked me to fill up an information sheet with questions related to my education background and work experience. This I submitted at a separate window, where they told me that this is a regular check that they have to perform. They kept my passport and other documents - I797 original, letter from employer. They said they will email me in 3-weeks or so. This is very frustrating. Anybody in similar situation please reply. I am a bit shocked and confused as to what to do. I would appreciate anyone telling his/her experience. Does anyone has any idea how long it takes. Thanks.. BTW - 1. I donot have have a common name and I am from India. 2. The white sheet does not say 221(g) or any case #. In the main text it does not say it is pertaining to TAL however, there is a small footnote refering to the document as TAL.page1.doc 3. I asked them if I could leave the Canada and go to my home country and they said it will be easier to get the visa from here. Copyright © 2006 - 2008 www.todayquiz.com
