I am on H4 currently at US. I have filed for my H1 in this year and have got the receipt number also. Can I take the appointment in any Indian consulate (chennai or mumbai or kolkata or new delhi) based on my reciept number itself? or should I have to wait till I get my H1B approval?

U need to wait till u get H1b approval number. after that U need to take D.D in any designated HDFC bank and then u can book appointment thru vfs site.
