Hello,
Is there any difference between H1B approval date and effective start date for H1B. If yes, then can I revert back to OPT status if I lose/quit my job if my H1B is approved or under process but has not taken effect.

If you are working under OPT status now and your H-1B petition is still pending, you can have the employer withdraw that H-1B paperwork and remian in OPT/F-1 status.

If you have an approved H-1B petition that was not filed as a change of status and does not contain an I-94, you are not in H-1B status until you obtaina visa.

If you have an approved H-1B approval notice filed as a chnage of status, your H-1B status starts with the date listed on the approval notice for your H-1B time. Is it October 1, 2006?
