Hi,
My H1 expires in November 2006. Also I have got a job in another company. Is it possible to file for transfer as well as an extension at the same time?
If not possible, then
Would it be better to have my current company extend & then transfer
OR
To have the new company do both.
Please Help.
Answer:
It is possible to file for the change of employer and extension at the same time.

When new H-1B paperwork for the new employer is prepared, you may ask for three (3) years of H-1B time if you have that remaining. Remember to include recent pay stubs from current employer as proof that you are maintaining your H-1B status.

Based on H-1B portability, you should be able to start with new employer upong filing (and receipt if you want to be extra prudent).
