Hello,
I need urgent help to the questions below :
1.I am in US now with I-94 status having H4 class of VISA and I also have H1B petition approved(i.e valid I-797 while in India).
2.While I was in India I had applied for my H1B petition but since it was delayed so I had to come with my wife on H4 VISA to US.
Can I apply for SSN and start working?
Do I need to AMEND I-94 status for work and to get SSN?
How soon can I start working
Pls help....

Hi,
As u applied ur H1B by staying in india u can not start working as now u are in H4 status I-94.U need I-94 with H1 Status.For that u have to Out of USA & do the visa stamping.If u get the visa then only u can get the H1B-I-94 at the port and apply for SSN.
