H1B Appointment, ( Name mess ) Please help..
Discussion: I live in OK , USA , My company had applied for my greencard using perm in Feb of 2006, my labor and I 140 got approved within months. Based on the I-140 my lawyer filed for my H1B extension. My company filed for my H1B extension a month back and I was approved for the extension for ( 7th, 8th and 9th year). MY passport was expiring in Jan 2007 so I had to send my Indian passport to houston texas for my 10 year passport renewal. I got my new passport this week. Problem: - My last name ( surname) in my old passport and my last name ( surname) in the new passport do not match as a whole. My last name ( surname ) in the new passport was broken into 2 words. Let me explain below Names per old passport ( cancelled because of issue of new passport) First Name : Vikram Middle Name: none Last Name : SenGupta Names per New passport First Name : Vikram Middle Name: Sen Last Name : Gupta Now you see my surname ( Lastname) differs. In the application for the visa appointment in MUMbai i had to write my names exactly as per the new passport listing ( First Name : Vikram Middle Name: Sen Last Name : Gupta). In the OTHER SURNAME colum ( 8th field in the application) in the application I had also provided my surname as per my old passport ( sengupta - one word) Will this cause any problem for getting the H1B visa . Please advice, I am leaving for India on thursday next week. I do not have time to change the name in the passport. Is there a way to change the application for the visa. I had tried to modify the application again, it would not let me change the name and the passport info section, other information is changable. Will I have a problem getting a visa because of the last name mess up, Thank You. Answer: MY Name in the new H1B extended for 7th, 8th and 9th year, I -140 Approval for greencard and Labor for greencard, matches with my new passport names. Copyright © 2006 - 2009 www.todayquiz.com
