Hi,
Can anyone clarify this:
I have valid H1B visa stamped from an x company.
In the meantime, another company y (in india) processing my B1 visa.
My question is,
if i go for Visa interview(B1), will my previous visa(H1) be cancelled by the Visa officer?
or
Can i have both the visa at the same time?

---- NO, the previous Visa (H1) will not be cancelled by the VO
or
Can i have both the visa at the same time?
---- Yes, you can have both the Visas at the same time. However, be prepared to answer the possible questions as below:
1. Why do need a B1 Visa at this time?
2. Are you going to work for both the employers while you are in US?
3. Are you going to get paid while on B1 in US?
---- Later, at the POE you have to declare on which Visa you want to enter and accordingly your I-94 will be stamped with the validity period of stay. Keep in mind that you cannot enter on B1 and then shift over to H1 by joining your employer who sponsored H1 while residing in the US
---- To join the employer who sponsored H1 you'll have to go out of the country and return back to US. At that time if you declare that you want to enter on H1, your I-94 will be stamped accordingly and only then you can enter US, join this employer and start getting paid with a valid SSN

I was thinking that logically one visa at a time only permissable. If it is so, it will stop my headache for some time.
